Opportunity
In 2008 Glasgow City Council organised a competition to appoint a developer to design and build housing and public open space at Clouston Street. Four developers put forward initial ideas of how they might develop the site. New City Vision won the competition. We would now like to draw up a full design for the site. Over the next few months, we will be working with the local community residents, schools and community groups to review our competition-winning design. We want the final design to be rooted in local aspirations particularly about what the open space should be used for and how it should look.
But we’re not starting with a blank sheet of paper. Our proposals must contain between 90 and 115 residential units, with a mixture of housing and flats; and we must include open space which the general public can use. But beyond those basic requirements, we are flexible. This is a genuine opportunity to shape our proposals before we start our detailed design.
Some people reading this might not want any development on the site. We respect that view. Let us be clear: if you object to the site being developed, you will still be entitled to object to the planning application, whether or not you take this opportunity to contribute to our proposals.
