gravatar I currently stay in a development by Newcity Vision - Gartloch Village. Beutiful A listed Victorian buildings, however
only half are developed and the rest have been neglected one so badly that Heritage Scotland have classed it as a building
at risk.
When I moved here I too was promised nature walks and landscaping, however if you visit the site its more like a
wasteland. Be careful, as this company has not even managed to complete what they said to do Circa 5years ago in this
development, therefore doubt it will hapen anywere else.

gravatar The North Kelvin Meadow Campaign (http://www.northkelvinmeadow.com) is a group of local residents who are strongly opposed to this intensity of development on a public green space and are committed to retaining a beautiful resource for the benefit of North Kelvinside.

We have been looking after this land in the absence of any management by the Council.

We have cleared dumped rubbish off the land, regularly pick up litter, run a community composting service, and have set up community allotments so that local residents can grow fruit and veg. This green space is in constant use by dog walkers, children, and others who appreciate it as a wild park. We would like to extend our work to provide a permanent resource for the benefit of the whole community. The development by New City Vision will destroy this work and ensure there is one less public resource for the people of North Kelvinside.

We are opposed to the development because:
1. Glasgow City Council did not adequately consult with locals to see if they would welcome any building on the land.
2. The proposed development would take away a valuable local resource in terms of wildlife habitat and public open space.
3. The community has come together to look after this land and put it to good use in a way that Glasgow City Council is encouraging in other areas of the city - the development would take away the focus for a great local initiative that is fostering community spirit and has great potential.
4. We believe unsightly brownfield sites in the area should be developed in preference to destroying a well-used public green space.

We welcome the opportunity to engage with New City Vision as part of the planning application process, and we urge local residents to make their views known to the developers. However, it's important to remember that any comments you make on this web site WILL NOT COUNT as a formal objection unless you put them in writing to Glasgow City Council's Planning Department after the time when the developer has submitted a formal Planning Application (which is unlikely to happen until March 2011).
